3 Wheel All Terrain Pushchair

A pushchair that is all-terrain and has outstanding maneuverability will work whether you are searching for a buggy for nature walks or taking a stroll along the high street. These models are usually equipped with large wheels and suspension systems that provide an easy ride on rough terrain.

The majority are suitable for infants and come with a seat that can be set in a flat position or a carrycot for newborns. These vehicles also come with tyres which never flatten, usually comprised of foam.

Suspension

A true all terrain pushchair will have good suspension which is specifically designed to be smooth on rough ground, helping your little one to feel comfortable and at ease. The wheels are typically large and puncture-proof, preventing injury from sharp sticks or rocks.

Some all-terrain strollers allow you to switch between different tyres to suit the conditions. Some all-terrain strollers have a swivel wheel that can be locked to provide stability, or left unlocked to allow for greater manoeuvrability.

There's a variety of three-wheel all terrain pushchairs available that offer excellent off-road performance. There are a variety of pushchairs that are classified as all-rounders, such as the iCandy Pear and Bugaboo Cameleon, which cope very well with the rough terrain of the park or National Trust places but don't have quite the off-road capability of all-terrain pushchairs.

Then there are the crossover models which are a fantastic alternative to extreme off-road and street and are able to handle all terrains with large wheels and a great suspension, but they're designed in a typical pushchair style with reversible seats and full carrycot options, so they can be used everyday. Brands like iCandy, Easywalker and Bugaboo have created some great ones to look at.

Wheels

All-terrain pushchairs are a must if you live in the countryside or take your child for regular walks through rough terrain. They are ideal for off-road or jogging use (once your child is old enough). It is also suitable from birth and can be used with a carrycot or a lie-flat chair.

The iCandy Peach All-Terrain is another alternative. It has big tyres, a single steering wheel in the front and big tyres. It's not as flexible as the other strollers with all-terrain wheels on this list however, it is able to handle hilly terrain well and has a spacious one-handed fold that is great for long walks in the countryside, or long trips. It's also suitable for babies and features a large canopy that can be extended, an adjustable handlebar, and a hugely-sized basket.

Stores

There are some excellent all-terrain pushchairs that are ideal for parents who want to take their child off-road, but don't wish to tackle Ben Nevis. They are the best of both. Find a model that has good all-terrain capabilities, sturdy suspension and large puncture proof wheels, but is designed in a traditional pushchair style with reversible seating and carrycot options.

The UPPAbaby's bestselling Ridge all terrain pushchair is a good example. It offers excellent suspension and a single-hand fold and a spacious basket that can hold up to 10 kg. It also comes with numerous features that are suitable for parents, such as an adjustable handlebar as well as an operator-operated break on the right. The hood can be removed, and washed using cool soapy-water to keep out mould and mildew.

If you are planning to take your all-terrain stroller off-road, opt for air-filled tires rather than rubber grips. They'll provide a more comfortable ride on rough terrain and will be more maneuverable in tight spaces.
