Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album, was an ode to the classic sextet structure and an even more consistent and powerful effort with a harder edge. The more edgier sound of Turn Back was a reflection of the growth of the band. Bobby Kimball's growing virtuosity was reflected by the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. Keyboardist David Paich's work was sharper, more intricate, and less derivative than earlier performances.

After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live performance in Amsterdam which was released as a set of two CDs titled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. A new studio album was released just a few months later and the band embarked on a world-wide tour to promote it.
