Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency at which you have to manually vacuum. Select a vacuum with good navigation, is able to clean corners and stairs and also has a large bin that will need to be cleaned out every now and then.

There are models that mop and charge themselves This is an advantage important for families with pets or children. The top performers in our tests have excellent obstacles to avoid.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ an excellent option for those who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it fills up.

Both robots are adept at removing surface dirt on hard floors and carpets and are able to maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home, which help the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ does not feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we tested. It could get stuck on power cords or socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.

iRobot recommends clearing areas in which the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include putting away any toys or clutter it may come across. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically empties the dirt into the station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of constant use. It takes about three hours to fully charge.

2. Roomba from iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint smart robot vacuums Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can direct your robot using the app or via voice.

The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin which removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions, move itself around the room, and even vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting to these services, we were able communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of vacuums that are cordless and look like minivans or buses, this small Dyson model is an old-fashioned sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces fade-free power for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets, and then pick up large dust or crumbs. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to suit the task. It is able to swiftly switch between handheld and floor vacuum, and vice versa.

This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in 3.5 hours, and gives users an easy access to two attachments as well as an Wand clip. This is a significant improvement over the older Dysons, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. Its claims on the market that it can last up to 60 minutes of running time are misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. That's still enough run time to vacuum the majority of an average-sized house but not long enough to get every single area (though the second time around usually does the trick). That's not to say this model doesn't have its benefits: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to spend on an expensive robot. It was able to pick up most types of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area multiple times for an extensive clean. The flat front of the unit allows to get into corners and along the walls' edges which is a nice touch.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it's not equipped with the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top selections and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in many ways in that it has fewer components that need regular cleaning and is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job maneuvering itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and can charge faster.

The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries strips that can be controlled with your smartphone's voice assistance. It is also more durable and has a stronger motor, and works better on both bare floors and carpets with low pile, while providing a wider array of automation options.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a brand is found on all kinds of electronic gadgets for your home, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the most popular robot vac vacuum and mop manufacturers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app offers a variety of customization options for your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior customizations docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is easy to use and understand similar to other Samsung devices.

In our tests our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86% of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller items such as socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we've tested and could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.

The smart vacuum (to morphomics.science) comes with an onboard camera that can be accessed via the app. You can also set up a live stream from the robot's cleaning station. This feature allows you to check in on pets or children when you're away from home. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned for an easy, quick clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic vacuum cleaner clean station which helps keep the bin clean and maximizes suction power.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for hard flooring. They feature an extra-wide cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds twice as much debris than other models to keep the cleaning area clean for the longest time. In addition, they have two side sweepers to clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model comes with AutoSense which adjusts the best robot vacuum cleaner power level based on whether it is collecting surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also has a smart app that lets you view the virtual map and control the functions and schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and then send it to its dock for charging at the touch of a single button. The app allows you to alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to tell where it is focused or if it's stuck.

The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually, if necessary. For example my living room rug has a darkly colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tried. However, the HRV 425BL continued to move across the border, but it didn't register it as a cliff. The ability to set up a weekly cleaning schedule is a fantastic time-saving feature.
