Toto is the company that makes the elegant Japanese toilets, also known as Washlets. These toilets come with heated seats, a deodorizer and bidet, in addition to other amenities.

About Toto

The group Toto was formed in the year 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also acclaimed studio musicians with Boz Scaggs at the time) as well as bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. The group took their name from the Latin word that translates to "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore all styles of music.

The third album from Toto, Turn Back, was not a success in 1981. However they came back with their fourth album, Isolation, which contained two songs that were hits with the title track and Roseanna. The album and the tour made them a household brand all over the world.

After a short hiatus, Toto returns with the album Fahrenheit. It's a change from the ballads of their previous albums and features some heavy rock. It was their first platinum album in North America.

In the course of recording the band's fifth album, the band loses their manager and are put in financial difficulty. They decide to change their name and make a new album using the new producer. Lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen leaves the band and is replaced by Joseph Williams, son of the legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. Joseph Williams is a natural frontman, and gives the band a much-needed boost.

The band releases Mindfields in 1999 and embarks on a huge tour around the world. After a few months in Europe they head to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a brief break, Toto resumes their recording and release their first live album entitled Absolutely Live in 1993. The album features a cover of Weezer’s song Hash Pipe as a response to the band's coverage of Africa on their recent tour. Toto is an American rock group that achieved their greatest success in the eighties. The band was formed by session musicians with experience and has sold more than 40 million albums in the world.

The first toto album was the self-titled Toto which was released in 1978. The album was a huge hit and catapulted toto into international fame. Since then, the band has released fourteen albums that are also hits.

Toto composed their first and only movie score in 1984 for the film Dune. It was a massive project that required the entire band to be involved. The album that followed, Kingdom of Desire, was another successful record. The next year, Toto toured together with Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band. This was the last time that all of Toto's original members were performing at the same time. The group broke up after this. However, Toto reunited in 2010 to perform a benefit show for the ALS Foundation. It was the first time in 31 years that all Toto's original members were on stage together. In addition to the original members keyboardist Greg Tambu filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate filled in for Shem Von Schroeck.

Toto has remained one of the most adored rock bands for over three decades, releasing massive hits such as "Rosanna," "Hold The Line,"" and their 8X-platinum smash, "Africa." With a wide range of influences, ranging from progressive rock to world beats to soul and jazz The group continues to please their fans with their energetic arena rock.

The band was hit with several setbacks during their later years, despite their popularity. In 2002 the drummer Greg Phillinganes left the group, and keyboardist David Paich took a leave of absence due to health reasons. Shem von Schröeck took over, but the band wasn't the same without Paich or Phillinganes. In 2008, a series of lineup changes and a string of disappointing releases prompted Toto to break up for a couple of years. However, the group resumed touring in 2012 following the release of their album, 40 Trips Around the Sun.

The album was a return to their best form and the tour that accompanied it featured sold-out shows in North America and Europe. The reunion of Toto gathered momentum after the return of bassist Shem Von Schroeck and guitarist Steve Lukather.
